7 Simple Steps to Rapid Success (How to Make Quantum Leaps)

Cappadocia, Turkey

It’s always so exciting when we first start taking steps towards a goal.

We have our big vision in mind, and we’ve plotted out the steps that (we think) will get us there.

But with every step we take comes an unspoken expectation.

We want everything we do to generate a tangible result.

And we want each subsequent step to build perfectly incrementally on top of the previous.

But every single thing you do will not deliver a predictable result, a consistent result, nor a result at all.

That may sound discouraging.

And it certainly feels that way when you’re putting in work and seemingly not getting anything in return.

Most people would get discouraged if the first video they posted (and the next 27 videos after that) get 3 views.

But if they stick around, they might see their 28th video get 3 million views.

Someone could be broke and in debt one day, having spent all the years of their working life earning just above minimum wage and fighting to get 5% raises every year…then make one shift, and become a multi-millionaire within six months.

These drastic climbs may not seem to make numerical sense based on the steps that lead up to them.

But that is the power of quantum leaps.

Quantum leaps in results can (more than) make up for all the times along the way that our expectations weren’t met and we didn’t get results at the level we wanted or expected.

The most exciting part—quantum leaps can be manufactured.

There are things you can do to encourage them to happen.

Here are 7 ways to make quantum leaps to advance towards your goals infinitely faster than you thought possible.

Listen to your intuition.

That gut feeling that you can’t explain.

That sensation in the pit of your stomach.

That nagging thought in the back of your mind.

That inkling of what to do next.

Intuition can come in many forms, but the one thing that almost always happens with intuition is that it makes you uncomfortable.

It often defies logic and conventional wisdom.

It usually goes counter to what you currently believe to be true or possible, and what people around you believe to be true or possible.

So what do you do?

  • Ignore it.
  • Suppress it.
  • Talk yourself out of it.

Because it doesn’t make “sense,” you devalue it in favor of what you can rationalize.

But your intuition is not supposed to make sense.

That’s the beauty of it.

It’s magic.

When listening to your intuition, what it tells you may not always make logical sense, but it doesn’t have to in order to work.

Your intuition gives you guidance that logic and reason cannot.

It’s an inner compass, telling you what to do next and how.

There is a supernatural force within you, aiding you if you tap into it and allow yourself to listen.

Move towards fear instead of away from it.

Fear protects us from death.

Literally.

It is a warning signal fired by your brain when it thinks your life might be at stake.

So fear, in and of itself, is not a bad thing.

But literal death is not the only type of death fear protects us from.

Fear also fires up when we are at risk to ego death, which comes in the form of humiliation, shame, or incompetence.

When is your ego most at risk for experiencing these feelings?

When you are doing something you have never done before.

When you reach your present edges.

When you reach the line between who you are and who you could be, should you choose to push forward.

That’s when fear starts kicking and screaming at you to shrink back into who you presently are.

And that’s when 99% of people readily comply.

Fear points in the direction of uncharted territory, that if you dare to traverse–leads to evolution and elevation.

That’s why it should be embraced.

When you feel afraid, that’s how you know you’re on the brink of your next level.

You do not experience fear within your comfort zone.

And it is outside of your comfort zone where growth (of all kinds) happens.

Set a goal.

Start taking steps towards that goal.

And when you inevitably start to feel fear, keep going and whatever it is, do it anyway.

Walking into fear is the cheat code to success.

Leverage the successes & failures of those ahead of you.

Before the advent of the internet, valuable information (information that can change your life) was held back by gatekeepers, dispeled at educational institutions, shared within elite exclusive organizations, and reserved for the privileged few who could afford access by means of their money or social status.

But now, thanks to the ol’ world wide web, the average person can access life changing information, strategies, and tools without even leaving the comfort of their own home sofa.

Anyone with a wifi connection can access mentorship and quality education through social media, websites, forums, and online courses.

Couple that with books, and there is a wealth of information available to show you how to reach almost any goal.

Nowadays, you don’t need any prior experience to obtain the skill necessary to accomplish anything, with few exceptions.

Trial and error is a necessary part of the path to any goal, but insisting on figuring everything out on your own, while it may serve the ego, does not serve results.

(I talk about this idea in my book, and taking it to heart took me from a corporate job tied to a single location, to a full time digital nomad making passive income while traveling to over 30 different countries.)

When I set out to start a new business and make location independent income, I didn’t just make stuff up.

I bought a course from people who possessed the knowledge and demonstrated the results that I wanted.

And buying that course from a youtube video completely changed my life.

steps to success

There’s no need to reinvent the wheel, overcomplicate things, or stab in the dark in an attempt to reach success.

There are few things that have never been done before.

Get on the fast track by learning from those who came before you and have already done what you want to do.

Quite simply, do what worked for them and avoid doing what didn’t.

Lean in to your competitive advantages.

We often look at other people in admiration, so easily noticing the wonderful qualities and traits they possess.

We admire how intelligent, funny, attractive they are…how good they are at speaking, writing, painting, running, whatever it may be.

And conversely, we often fail to notice or acknowledge the wonderful things about ourselves that others so easily see in us.

The same way you notice admirable traits in others that you wish you had, other people are looking the same way at you.

There are things that come to you more easily than they do to others.

There are accomplishments you’ve achieved that have been impossible for others.

You have unique talents, a unique background, and a unique persona that set you apart from everyone else.

This is your competitive advantage.

Ali Abdaal, productivity Youtuber extraordinaire, talks about how going to Cambridge was his competitive advantage.

He had a degree from an esteemed and demanding university in a field where that mattered–medicine.

He used that to bolster the credibility of his study tips content.

Then, after graduating, he transitioned into creating productivity content, the credibility of which was bolstered by the fact that he was simultaneously running a successful youtube channel while practicing medicine–two highly demanding endeavors that could only be done by someone who had a true handle on productivity.

Are you a natural in front of the camera?

Do people always tell you how funny you are?

Do you have a way with words?

A knack for organizing?

An infectious smile?

A magnetic energy?

What makes you different?

What makes you effortlessly stand out?

These are the things that can fast track you to success if properly exploited.

steps to success

Focus on quantity.

We don’t all have the same skill level.

When it comes to trying something new, other people will be better than you at first…and also even forever.

You may never become the absolute best, be able to create the absolute best, or perform the absolute best.

But where you may not be able to compete on quality, you can compete on quantity.

Always create and put out work that you are proud to put your name on.

But also know that perfection does not exist, nor is it necessary to achieve success.

While you’re dragging your feet to put out your work because you think it’s not good enough or “not ready,” someone else with half your talent has triple your output and is getting quadruple your results.

You may not be able to make the best youtube video.

But you can make 100 youtube videos.

And if you do that, something is bound to stick.

Think of each thing you complete and put out as a lottery ticket.

What’s the easiest way to win the lottery?

Buy more tickets.

By simply doing more, you increase your “luck surface area” and give yourself more chances to find what works.

Quantity is the best way to compete with quality.

Be consistent.

This goes hand in hand with focusing on quantity.

Again, It’s like winning the lottery.

You’re much more likely to win if you keep playing.

I am NOT advocating for trying to get rich by playing the lottery.

I am advocating for creating your own lottery by consistently taking meaningful actions towards your goals.

Now, don’t confuse consistency with intensity.

Just because you focus on quantity, it doesn’t mean you have to do everything all at once.

You can’t make 50 youtube videos in one day.

But you can in one year.

Over the long run, consistency beats intensity.

Sure, you can work with short bursts of increased output…

  • the occasional all-nighter
  • a temporary season of 12-hour days falling asleep at your computer
  • posting three times a day instead of one

But that doesn’t last forever.

That can’t last forever.

To win long term, you have to play the game long term.

That requires consistency.

Think marathon, not sprint.

A little bit, continually over time.

Take action in a way where you can stay the course, and you can win with just staying power alone.

By outlasting everyone else, you can eliminate competition and rise to the top faster than you think.

steps to success

Take advantage of the 80/20 rule.

According to the 80/20 rule, 80% of your results will come from 20% of your actions.

So to capitalize on this, once you find what works, do more of it, until that represents 80% of your actions.

Rinse and repeat.

As you continue doing this, every single thing you do will become exponentially more and more effective and you will start to get exponentially better outputs from the same inputs.

The only way you can do this, though, is with quantity first.

Let’s say you only put out two youtube videos (sorry, it’s just an easy example and we’re already in this deep).

You haven’t even done enough for the 80/20 principle to mathematically kick in.

Think of things in 10s and 100s.

If you want to build a Twitter account (I’m not calling it X), post 100 tweets on various topics, or subtopics within a single niche.

See what cream rose to the top.

Let’s say your self-care tweets performed the best.

Now, if you make your next 100 tweets on self care, guess what’s inevitably going to happen?

That’s right–better results.

The next 100 posts share the same quantity as the first 100, but the next 100 excel in effectiveness.

Create enough to allow outliers to rise to the top so you can double down on what works, eliminate what doesn’t, and get the 80/20 rule to work in your favor.

Progress is not always linear.

In fact, it never is.

Progress doesn’t come in the perfectly evenly divided intervals that we put on our goals lists.

Growth doesn’t occur in perfect, bite-sized increments we decide or can make sense of.

(I also talk about this concept in my book, Challenge Accepted.)

If you’ve been working at something and not seeing the results you want, don’t succumb to despair and overlook the power and possibility of quantum leaps.

Use these seven steps to rapid success as cheat codes to multiply your progress beyond the realm of logic and reason.

Just making one change suggested on this list could be the thing that changes it all.
